Man, were we jazzed! It’s not every day you can have INCREDIBLE fun playing golf and—at the same time—do something very positive for your community and for sick children. But that’s exactly what the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Golf Tournament is all about. And that’s why Maine Source Homes & Realty was so proud to be a Hole Sponsor again this year.
We played in the event held at Martindale Country Club on July 31, which helped raise funds for the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital at Maine Medical Center in Portland. And we came in 1st Place! We then donated our cash winnings back to the hospital, to help them increase the money raised. The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital is Maine’s ONLY certified children’s hospital, so we feel it’s very important to support their annual fundraising events.
The Hospital’s Life-Saving Work
You may be wondering, “What exactly does The Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital do”? The answer is: an astounding amount of good for sick children. BBCH works each day to deliver excellence in patient care, research, and education. The hospital offers state-of-the-art services in cancer treatment, cardiology, neonatal care, and numerous other pediatric specialties. More than 98,000 patient-visits occur each year.
Right from the beginning, BBCH was specifically designed with children in mind, providing cutting-edge hospital equipment, specialty programs, and play areas. The hospital was recently listed in the “Best Children’s Hospitals” rankings for Pediatric Diabetes & Endocrinology care by U.S. News & World Report.
How Lewiston-Auburn Steps Up to Help
The primary sponsor of the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals Golf Tournament in our area is the Walmart Distribution Center in Lewiston-Auburn, a huge distribution center that employs thousands of people. We LOVE that Walmart explains their participation as being about “love of the game and love of children,” and we whole-heartedly back that sentiment. We LOVE playing in Barbara Bush Hospital-related tournaments, and feel it is a great honor for us to be a Hole Sponsor each year. After all, we live here, and we play here.
