This fall, many of southern Maine’s most beloved fall fests will be making their triumphant return to The Pine Tree State. Here are 5 we especially recommend!

Freeport Fall Festival
Freeport, Maine
October 1 to October 3

An annual favorite sponsored by Visit Freeport, this family-friendly festival brings together more than 175 of New England’s top artists and food producers for a three-day festival at the legendary L.L. Bean campus. Also showcasing three days of live music, the festival asserts its “family-friendly” credentials by offering an abundance of crafts and scavenger-hunt activities for kids. FREE admission.

Fryeburg Fair
Fryeburg, Maine
October 3 to Oct 10

Founded in 1851, Fryeburg Fair is truly one of America’s most all-time beloved events. Venture to the western mountains of Maine and enjoy everything from carnival games to midway rides to livestock exhibits to competitions such as the Fireman’s Muster and the Skillet Throw. Admission $12 per day; FREE for children aged 12 and under.

Damariscotta Pumpkinfest & Regatta
Damariscotta, Maine
October 8 to October 11

Hailed by Travel & Leisure magazine as “One of the Best Fall Festivals in Maine,” this one-of-a-kind festival includes a pumpkin boat regatta in which actual 400-to-700-pound, hollowed-out pumpkins are paddled or motor-powered down the Damariscotta River! The festival also includes everything from a giant pumpkin weigh-off to a parade to a pumpkin drop and more. FREE admission.

York HarvestFest & Kidsfest
York, Maine
October 16  /  9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Brimming with a variety of family-fun activities, the 36th annual Fest will feature live music from the Don Campbell Band & Friends; great local food vendors; a roaming railroad; storytelling sessions; face-painting for the kids; and old-fashioned market vendors from all over New England. FREE admission.

Fall Artisan & Craft Fair
Lewiston, Maine
November 13   /  10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Presented each year at the Lewiston Armory, the Fall Artisan & Craft Fair is sponsored by Lewiston Recreation and showcases a wide variety of amazingly talented local artisans and crafters. This year you’ll enjoy a Vendor Raffle and a wide variety of tasty concessions as you browse through a wide array of homemade crafts and artwork.  FREE admission.
